Many people, within the theatre business as well as out, only know me as Tika, the girl I used to play in the television series for children: Ti-ta-tovenaar. 
Whatever I did before, besides and after that, reached a smaller audience.

From 1987 till  2001 I performed mainly in my  own theatre productions, cabaretesk, vaudeville,  musical and close to the audience.
The company was called: Mijne Heren!  (Gentlemen!) and we frequented small theatres, café-chantants and other  theatre-minded places.
Productions that were developed and played with colleagues as well as solo performances.

Apart from that I:
- played in theatre-productions in small  theaters,
- did a lot of voice-overs for radio and television commercials and comics,
- played parts in television productions and  pictures,
- sang the solo ileading part in a large musical theatre production with big band,
- and directed several plays with amateur theatre companies, and Frank Roemers.

Since the eighties musical theatre became the most important discipline in my career.
With ‘Brecht, het leven zelf (Brecht, life itself) and "Happy End" I discovered Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill,
and sang a lot of their songs since then.

Street theatre  from 1984 on , theatre in its oldest shape, was the inspiration for the café-chantant: straight foreward and often in the middle of the audience.
The theatre  productions of Hooker and Sater were my first encounters with the circle of small theatres.
The Theater van de Lach (The theatre of laughter) was a welcome school for timing, comedy and  farce.
The experience with this medium lead me to the direction of "Noises Off "by Michael Frayn, played by amateur companies.
A Splendid farce within a comedy!

I started in 1967, playing for youth,  after a year's education at the theatre school in Amsterdam.
At first in the company "Amsterdams jeugdtoneel" (Amsterdam theatre for youth) ,  later in "Wederzijds" (Both ways), founded by Johan Hobo, myself and others.
At the same time television came in the picture for me with several  parts in television dramas.
In 1972 followed, after 5 years, Ti-ta-tovenaar.

I never say never. But in principle I put an end to this carreer in 2001 and (re)started another: drawing and painting .
